Kalen's Kloset
Kalen's Kloset is a free resource center located on the Chino Valley High School campus, near the District Office. It is supported by donations and the Chino Valley Education Foundation, and serves as a family resource center to CVUSD students and their families. The free store is open most days on Mondays through Thursdays between 9am and 3pm. Please call ahead to arrange donation drop-offs or to confirm someone will be there to assist you.

The center was created to honor the memory of Kalen Earle, a CVHS Class of 2008 student, who lost his battle with cancer before his graduation. Kalen's Kloset is a reflection of Kalen's generous spirit - his love for his friends, his school, and his community. Kalen dreamed of becoming a math teacher and spending summers on the beach in Costa Rica.

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act requires that children and youth experiencing homelessness have equal access to the same free, appropriate public education, including a public preschool education, as provided to other children and youth. To ensure access to educational and other services necessary to meet the same challenging State academic standards to which all students are held, State educational agencies and local educational agencies are required to develop, review, and revise policies and procedures to remove barriers to the identification, enrollment, attendance, and academic success of children and youth experiencing homelessness (42 U.S.C. §§11431-11432).
You may qualify as "homeless" if...

  • Your grandchild(ren), niece, nephew, or other child lives with you while their parents are unable to care for them for any reason.
  • Your family lives in someone else's home and your name is not on the deed or rental agreement.
  • Your family lives in a camper, motorhome, tent, car, or motel.
  • Your family lives in a shelter or transitional housing.
  • You do not have electricity or water available where you live.
  • Your child is living with someone else who does not have permanent guardianship over him/her.
